[Notice from Korean Immigration Service] Beware of Voice Phishing Scams
Fraudsters are illegally using the phone numbers of Ministry of Justice offices and impersonating government officials.
Recently Identified Voice Phishing Cases:
(Case 1) Scammers are using the following Ministry of Justice phone numbers:
02-2110-4039 (Border Control Division)
02-2110-3294 (International Criminal Affairs Division
02-2110-3000 (Customer Service Center)

The Customer Service Center (02-2110-3000) is for incoming calls only. It does not make outgoing calls.
Scammers are impersonating officials from multiple departments of the Ministry of Justice. These scammers may call you and falsely claim that you are involved in a criminal case. They may demand that you visit the prosecutor’s office or provide personal information.
(Case 2) A scammer impersonates an immigration officer, asking whether you visited a certain country.
They may mention serious crimes such as fraud or murder that occurred in that country.
Then, they demand that you download an immigration-related app on your smartphone.
Stay alert. Do not share personal information over the phone.
