Purpose

• Occupation Ability Development Project is a part of project for financial independence of foreign workers and residents. The project includes educational programs in cook, computer, driver's license, barista, etc., in order to assist foreign residents' employment and settlement
• Such programs will encourage their return volition with vocational training and economic education, allowing their financial independence back in home country.

Contents

• Cooking class, computer class, driver's license class, barista class, PC technician class

1. Cooking Class

• Purpose: for hobby, for certificate → expansion of hobby, acquisition of certificate → leading to acquirement of certificate, multi-cultural restaurant, social enterprise

• Expected Effect
  • Cooking class supports foreign workers and residents with curriculum of qualification for professional cook, in order to assist settlement and employment; it also provides experiences in Korean cuisine.

2. Computer Class

• Purpose: Learning basic computer skills, acquisition of computer certificate, employment, support for home-returning

  • Contents: Weekdays: Beginners (1/wk), Intermediate (2/wk) / Weekends: Beginners, Intermediate

• Expected Effect
  • Computer education project helps foreign workers and residents to settle with jobs by learning computer skills and to expand their various cultural lives in the information era.
  • The weekday meet-up classes and weekend classes for workers will improve quality of life in the information era and prepare the students with qualifications for economic activities.

3. Driver's License Class

• Purpose: for written test, for practical test → Drive at site, Road Drive

• Overview

  • Project Period: during 2014
  • Location: Lecture Room at the center & Seongna-si Driving Academy
  • Contents: Driver's License Class

• Expected Effect
  • This class aims to acquisition of driver's license and economic activities with meet-up classes for written test and practical classes with cooperating driving academy.
  • Foreign workers and residents will learn driving skills through the Driver's License Classes for better employment and convenience in life.

4. Barista Class

• Expected Effect
  • The Barista Classes will provide professional knowledge in coffee and widen opportunity of employment in local community. Students may work at the Book Café at the Center as well.

5. PC Technician Class

• Overview
  • For: Foreign workers & residents

  • With acquisition of operation technique for software, one is trained to maintain and repair corporate or personal PC and may be employed at a company's computer department or Network & PC maintenance enterprise.
